The Gantt Chart is built for report authors who want a project-management-grade schedule inside Power BI, without leaving the report or writing any code.
The visual splits into a task list on the left and a timeline on the right, joined by an optional band of extra columns and owner circles. A bar’s position is its start date and its length is its duration; a thin summary bar spans all of a parent’s children; a filled portion shows how complete a task is; an arrow between two bars means the second depends on the first.
Because it is Microsoft-certified, its code has been reviewed to confirm it reaches no external services — your data never leaves Power BI, and the visual works with export to PowerPoint and PDF and with email subscriptions.
Capabilities
Task hierarchy
Nest tasks up to ten levels deep with expand and collapse, and automatic summary bars spanning their children.
Timeline and zoom
Switch between Day, Week, Month, Quarter, Year or Auto Fit, and scroll to Start, Today or End on load.
Progress tracking
Show actual against planned progress, a completion percentage, and checkmarks on finished tasks.
Milestones
Plot up to five date columns per task as circles, diamonds, squares, triangles or stars.
Dependencies
Draw arrows between tasks from a predecessor list, so the critical path is visible at a glance.
Owners and extra columns
Show task owners as initials in a coloured circle, with up to three extra data columns beside the task list.
